Position – Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist

Job description

1. Responsible for developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs for The Uttar Pradesh Factories Pantnagar, State of Uttarakhand, India: a. with the objective to proactively reduce risks and;
   b. ensure compliance with India relevant EHS laws and regulations and HP EHS standards
2. Work with the business units and Suppliers/contractors/Subcontractors to ensure the implementation of HP EHS management system and standards.
3. Provides expertise to various business units, teams and participate in cross-functional initiatives/activities and EHS programs.
4. Track, review, consult and implement EHS laws regulations, promulgated by country, province and local regulatory authorities for all work activities, including those at customer sites.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure that the site’s overall environmental health and safety program, EHS performance and Dashboard updated and in compliance with legal, company requirements at site and support remotely to EHS in APJ countries.
2. Participate in regular meetings, communicate on the existing EHS issues, and work out action plan for these existing EHS issues and ensure effectiveness and focus on continuous improvement.
3. Organize and conduct regular EHS inspection to discover potential EHS risk, follow up relevant corrective actions till effective closure.
4. Be responsible for all EHS licenses/Permit, convening Emergency Response Team members and implementing, conduct Emergency Drill and Response Plan.
5. Be responsible for incident and injury reporting, investigating and corrective actions, and follow up corrective and preventive actions and ensure effective closure.
6. Be responsible for identifying and forecasting EHS training needs and ensure the completion of EHS training for relevant employees.
7. In charge of contractor/supplier management and ensure all contractor/supplier follow up HP EHS standards and requirements
8. Participate in the process of the project of office renovation and innovation so as to make sure these projects to meet EHS requirements
9. Liaise with external authorities, such as the work safety bureau, fire bureau, and environmental protection bureau on EHS issues and is the point of contact for those external agencies.
10. Coordinate and help solve relevant work safety, health and fire safety issues with the Facilities/Property Management Company, Landlord and Business Units.
11. Good knowledge of the Uttar Pradesh Factories regulations on implementing rules and regulations for the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards law.

Education and Experience Required

1. University degree in science required, with safety engineering, environmental engineering or chemical engineering or safety engineering or mechanical engineering is recommended.
2. Possess the Certificate required The Uttar Pradesh Factories (Safety Officers) Rules as qualified Safety officer, Pantnagar, State of Uttarakhand, India.
3. Desire certificates should be preferable:
   a. Certified Industrial Hygienist / Certificate Associate Industrial Hygienist or at least any local diploma in industrial hygiene.
   b. Certified Professional Ergonomist / Associate Ergonomics Professional or at least any local diploma in ergonomics.
4. At least 5 years’ experience in the manufacturing process, preferably chemical process.
5. At least 3-9 years of environmental, health, and safety experience required.
6. In the implementation of OSH Program with duties and responsibilities as Safety Officers with good knowledge on implementing rules and regulations of the Pantnagar, State of Uttarakhand, India Occupational Safety and Health Standards law.
7. Good knowledge of implementing, understanding rules and regulations of the Safety and Health Standards related to Air Emission, Noise, Waste & Water, Industrial Hygiene, Workplace Ergonomics, Fire Safety, Training, and ISO Systems.
8. Lead auditor for ISO 14k/45K Management System
9. Trained and qualified in First Aider and Fire Safety management

1. Sound knowledge of EHS legislation as it relates to The Uttar Pradesh Factories, Pantnagar, State of Uttarakhand, India
