Describe the Department

  • The Loads assessment & load mitigation strategies are critical steps in the Wind Power Plant Siting process for Vestas. This position has an important role in identifying and quantifying technical risks of wind power projects and generating and capturing value through innovative customized technical solutions.
  • This is your opportunity to learn & work with a global specialist who will offer industry coordinating training and technology within a flexible working environment. You will be responsible from Wind & Site supporting phase in the sales process. Your focus will be on the value adding high quality loads assessment as well as providing site specific design assessments, power curve simulations and associated customer support. The main location is in Chennai, India

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of a team in performing the Loads assessment, load mitigation strategies with the help of various controller features and supporting the sales organisation by providing site specific design assessments. You will also work on providing the site-specific power curve simulations and preparing the power curve documents to the sales. You will mainly work with aeroelastic simulation responsible for documenting and presenting your work in a precise way to your internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible to complete projects in alignment with TL/Manager. Contribute to process improvements with innovative solutions in order to deliver the projects more efficiently, active participation in regular workshops and involvement in establishing the guidelines.

Qualifications

  • M.Tech/ME in Wind / Mechanical / Structural / engineering,
  • Programming experience in Delphi/Matlab / Python

Competencies

  • Loads evaluation for standard platform turbines
  • Experience with the tools Flex5, Bladed, or HAWC2 (aero-elastic simulations)
  • Strong competencies within dynamic simulations of mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of control of mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of wind turbine component strength calculations

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all Vestas internal department’s and sites to record and document required spare parts as directed across all competitor fleets of wind turbines
  • Identify current and new suppliers, technologies, and solutions in order to fulfill targets and KPIs
  • Partner with suppliers within local and international markets to objectives cost, delivery, quality, and safety
  • Lead purchase agreement negotiations with suppliers
  • Generate cost models, competitive bidding, and spend analysis improving costs objectives
  • Ensure that the spare parts and main components are available within short lead time’s at the most competitive price with quality and fulfilling safety standards
  • Support the sourcing and category management strategy for Multibrand spare parts
  • Other tasks as assigned to allow for periodic (non-regular) or special projects that do not impact the main functions of the role, including potential work associated with Vestas own brand of wind turbines

Qualifications

  • A purchasing, supply chain, or engineering tertiary qualification
  • Technical background, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering preferred; knowledge of Spare Parts, Repairs & Service activities
  • Minimum 3-9 years’ experience in buyer/purchaser role with proven experience in both small and large purchasing volumes
  • Experience and understanding of the issues encountered when ordering specialized spare parts across the large geographical area of Pan Asia. In different countries and the associated import/export regulations
  • Extensive experience with RFQ/RFI processes
  • SAP (ERP) knowledge required
  • Knowledge of WTG OEM’s supplier base and sourcing is required
  • Proven achievement in understanding purchasing agreements, cost models, negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs
  • Solid continuous improvement and quality methodology skills. Recommends and encourages improvement about the industry (pricing, trends, competitors, value drivers, etc.)
