POSITION SUMMARY
  • Candidates will gain hands-on experience from preliminary design concepts to production aircraft. This includes design of aircraft systems or airframe details and assemblies, detail analysis of mass properties data, learning and supporting sustaining tasks and also involve in the aircraft delivery process to the customer. The mass properties group interacts with many disciplines of other engineering groups throughout the development of the program which gives the opportunity to enhance the knowledge of aviation engineering.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with a team of engineers to design aircraft systems or airframe details and assemblies for Textron Aviation products.
  • Duties will include one or more of the following fields: airframe, flight controls, Interiors, environmental controls, or hydraulics.
  • Responsibilities will include analyzing drawings for weight and inertia properties by examining the applicable drawings and part lists and creating and analyzing solid models in CATIA V5.
  • It will also be necessary for the engineer to analyze the generated data using proprietary tools to determine how the changes will affect the overall weight and center of gravity of the aircraft by examining the relevant engineering changes and how they interact with current standard aircraft and provide detailed reports on these changes regularly.
  • Use and apply engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to support Textron Aviation products.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a comprehensive schedule of training in the required tools and applications.

Job description

  • Prepare functional test documents for avionics and electrical systems.
  • Prepare certification documentation including certification plans, ground and flight test plans, and certification reports showing avionics and electrical systems compliance with 14 CFR Part 23/25.
  • Will evaluate and analyze avionics and electrical system design for completion of function hazard assessments and system safety assessments.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • Electronic drafting experience with CATIA-CADAM (CCD), IAI HarnesSys/Mentor Graphics is desired, expereince with CATIA V5/V6 and VPM is helpful.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint are required, Access and Project experience is desired.

POSITION SUMMARY

Incumbent will be responsible developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. He/she has limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts. Work is closely supervised. Incumbent should specific, detailed instructions to complete the task. Performs assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Authoring System Safety Reports including Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments, Common Mode Analysis, and Zonal Safety Analysis.
  • Assisting authors with Preliminary System Safety Assessments, and System Safety Assessments. This includes supporting FMEA, fault tree analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, etc.
  • Developing process-based training, tools, and other opportunities for process automation.
  • Assisting systems engineers in developing requirement for design and installation of equipment and systems. Assist systems design, and engineering teams in ensuring all aspects of development assurance are addressed including reviewing requirements documents, definition documents, and other supporting deliverables.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Experience with drafting tools like CATIA V5/V6 is beneficial
  • Strong skills in technical analysis for structures, components and systems.
  • Previous experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems design is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the safety assessment processes outlined in AC 23.1309-1E SAE ARP 4761/4754A and the current and draft versions of AC 25.1309 is preferable.
  • Experience with fault tree modeling tools such as Fault Tree+, Relex, and CAFTA is preferable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software application and working environment is preferable.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be able to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas with peers, management, and certification authorities


B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
