Job description
TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.
What your background should look like:
Responsibilities:
- Represent Engineering on multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Outside Suppliers.
- Design and development of products to meet performance specification and fitness for manufacture. Encompassing electrical, mechanical and material requirements.
- Work on Product Optimization and Cost Improvement to reduce cost and improve product competitiveness.
- Evaluate manufacturing deviation requests and make decisions on deviation acceptance.
- Manage tool transfer and First Article approvals.
- Create and manage all supporting technical documentation; including drawings, specifications, inspection plans, reports etc
- Coordinate with test laboratories on product validation and qualification testing.
- Facilitate Agency Approval activities with Product Approvals personnel.
- Evaluate and implement material changes including polymers, metals and plating.
Key Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
- BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 8 years of experince in design & development
- Experienced user of Engineering tools such as DFMEA, Tolerance analysis.
- Proficient in CREO.
- Experience in Terminals and Splices, Connectors or similar products advantageous.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes; molding, stamping, plating, heat-treating, assembly and related technologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong design/development and analytical skills.
- Able to work with multicultural engineering teams in matrix organizations
- Ideal candidate is proactive, resilient and self-confident.
- Fluent in English language and documentation skills.
