The Design Engineer is in charge of enabling lifecycle profitability and sub-system integration of the technical activities for their design solutions profitability through the Supply Chain Design.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborating amongst engineering disciplines, including manufacturing, services, and verification.
- Ensuring that design solutions can work in their setting. To get at the solutions, use systems engineering, resilient design, optimization, integration, and innovation tools and procedures.
- Definition of the mechanical and functional system, sub-systems, and components to satisfy the needs of the customer, solution to problems that emerge during validation, and assistance with the continued operation of the current system and its sub-systems in service.
- Create thorough Design Definition reports that precisely outline your needs, design concepts, how the winning concept was chosen, requirements, risks, and the design’s verification and validation processes.
- Ensure that the part fulfills its intended form, fit, function, and life by undertaking the appropriate evaluation to address any part non-conformance resulting from the manufacture, handling, in-service damage, etc.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Qualified in mechanical and aeronautical engineering to the professional engineering degree level or equivalent.
- The combination of additional qualifications and suitable experience may also be taken into account.
- Good knowledge of the aerospace industry’s gas turbine engine design process.
It would be advantageous to have multi-skilling experience in the core design, stress management, and product definition. - Experience with concurrent engineering in a demanding delivery-focused business would also be beneficial, as would experience with robust design, design for manufacture (DfM), and systems engineering theories and practical implementation.
- Candidates must be highly numerate, possess strong technical and analytical skills, be able to solve problems and think at the system level, have a strong work ethic, be outstanding communicators, and be able to work well in a team atmosphere.
- Familiar with the digital design tools available for 3D analysis and automation.
