Job Description Summary

Responsible for activities related to the construction, building, and commissioning on customer site, from site mobilization, through civil, erection, and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete tasks/duties based on changing work situations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Site activities related to mechanical erection and installation of equipment and plant scope on a project.
    May lead others directly or indirectly and/or sponsor subcontractors.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical fields of knowledge; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer-facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
  • Identify the EHS requirements, lead SAPI, and train site workers / sub-contractors with regards to SAPI.
  • Identify the Drawings and documents related to Generator.
  • Identify the resources required such as manpower, tools, consumables, etc.
  • Identify the checks, and tests to be conducted with respect to control sheets of each Generator assemblies.
  • Identify the interfaces and address all issues and define an action plan.
  • Prepare site-specific risk assessment for every activity and get validated by EHS Officer.
  • Review EHS requirements and arrange to fulfill the requirements as per risk assessment, and ensure safe working methods are implemented and adopted.
  • Lead site safety audits and furnishes EHS monthly reports.
  • Review the drawings and documents; prepare the materials requirements including consumables for each Generator assembly.

  • Guide and execute timely and quality reporting with sketches/photos for respective Generator assemblies assigned to individual Supervisor.
  • Guide and execute timely completion of documentation including red mark drawings for respective Generator assemblies assigned to the individual candidates.

Managerial (Budget / Administration / People).

  • Ensure all required resources are provided to the team on-time.
  • Lead the team at site and ensure the co-ordeal relation among all the team members.
  • Ensure punctuality and discipline by all team members.
  • People organization with prior planning.
  • Client and sub-contractor personal relationship.
  • Registering additional works and requirements for opportunities and risk.
  • Ensure recorded inputs for claim management and subcontractor claims.

Functional/transverse (optional)

  • Provide structure feedback with experiences and lessons learned in the duration of every assembly or installation.

Specific Functional/Technical authority (besides DoA):

  • Access to all drawings and documents and information needed to execute defined tasks and responsibilities.
  • Freedom to initiate resource planning and mobilization as per the planning of the work and activity-wise requirement.
  • Freedom to decide on the selection of the Personnel assigned to a project, based on qualifications and specific activity requirements.
  • Stop the activity if found there is a risk for personal working or to the material or to the environment.

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires basic experience in Project Management & Mechanical Construction. The knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in the USA – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
