Position – Senior Design Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

The Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new or existing products, in line with planning, process, quality targets. He/she produces complete engineering designs translated into CAD models and creates all the associated documentation within PDM systems.

Principle Accountability

• Creation / Modifications of 3D models for all Exhaust components using standard CAD software.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in creating manufacturing drawings, defining tolerances & applying GD&T
• Hands-on experience for trouble-shooting activities and innovative solutions
• Very good in material properties & selection of materials
• Knowledge of Sheetmetal/Casting/Forging Manufacturing Processes.
• Communicate with the customer on day-to-day activities.
• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents (PDM)
• Execute projects to meet the customer’s timeline and quality requirements.
• Participate in GAP meeting and update information on GAP boards timely
• Actively participate in employee involvement/ Continuous Improvement activities /knowledge management initiatives.

Must have the following experience:

• Experience in CAD tools – Catia V5, Creo, Nx.
• General Engineering knowledge, Automobile, the strength of the material, etc
• Exposure to design and development environment.
• Experience in design standards and drafting guidelines.

• Work experience or knowledge on a sheet metal press tool design
• Experience on DFMEA, DFM, DFA & DFS
• Multi-tool skills, more than one CAD software experience

Roles and Responsibilities

Principal Accountability:

• Analysis of design concepts for CFD and Thermal specifications
• Autonomous recommendations based on CFD and thermal results to program team
• Provide design solutions and recommendations for development of exhaust designs, based on CFD and thermal targets (both FCM and Customer) independently
• Technical report preparation and presentation global stakeholders
• Support and/or active participation in internal & external professional networks in FCM (incl. documentation)
• Identify and share the lessons learned and best practices
• Support internal CAE team level training
• Maintain, track quality & on-time delivery metrics for all work requests
• Quality review of the simulations executed by CFD Engineers, GETs and PGETs
• Support standardization, harmonization, and documentation of calculation methodologies, including working procedures
• Supporting COE/COA for development and/or the introduction of new calculation methods and workflows in the field of thermo-fluid dynamics for product development according to PMS / IPMS
• Implementation / Coordination of basic research projects for the expansion of the company’s know-how in the field of thermo-fluid dynamics and product innovation according to PMS / IPMS
• If necessary, participate in the optimization of IT hardware structures and simulation processes / IT environment as well as their implementation
• Market investigation concerning products, tools, and technologies
• Preparation of publications and assistance to engineering students

Software:

• Mandatory: CFD software tools (OpenFOAM, StarCCM+, Taitherm, OpenFoam)
• Mandatory: CFD pre/post-processing (StarCCM+, Hypermesh)
• Good to have: knowledge of coding using TCL/TK, Python, Perl, Java
• MS-office & Unix / Linux applications

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification: 

• B.E or M.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in CFD, thermal analysis using commercial CFD solver like STAR-CD, STAR CCM+, FEMAP TMG, Taitherm
• 4+ years of experience in providing design concepts based on CFD/Thermal results, developing methodologies, standards, and writing procedures. Experience in simulation and methodological layout of exhaust system components or Core engine simulation considering thermofluid dynamics and thermal requirements
