- The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop Medium Voltage Switchgears to meet customer-specific technical, cost, and market-related technology requirements in accordance with IEC standards. Individuals will have a responsibility to lead complex module developments for MV switchgear systems and guide and mentor new engineers for the concept, detailed design, and industrialization activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrated capability in the design of MV switchgear system like the design of busbars, disconnector mechanism, etc.
- Completes system/component sizing, modeling, and simulation to meet switchgear requirements
- Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations
- Modify existing products to support customers, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard, and market requirement.
- Develops test plans for short circuit, temperature rise, and arc test in accordance with IEC standards. Creates test object requirements, plans for assembly, and finalizes test parameters & instrumentation. Responsible for conducting tests by ensuring deployment of standard practices. Assesses test results, root cause analysis through test findings/failures and takes corrective/preventive actions
- Uses Inventor/Creo to create component detail models and modify models of existing products to meet new customer requirements. Supervises detail design in completion of detail drawings and packages
- Support the Creation of new designs and advanced methodologies to support the Technical Roadmap of the organization
- Review Supplier Document Requirements List documents based on product requirements, customer specifications, or industry standards like IEC
- Review, design proposals, and documentation required to define & control products
- Participate in design reviews, both customer and internal as required
- Review reliability predictions, and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and structural/thermal/CFD results
- Coordinate and support prototype manufacturing of products
- Perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applications
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse workforce and high interpersonal skills through active participation in organizational initiatives at the group level.

Qualifications
Preferred education level:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering / M.tech in Machine Design.
Years and area of experience required:
- 3+ Years (B.Tech) / Fresher (M.Tech).
Technical knowledge:
- 3-4 years BE with design experience with electromechanical systems
- Sound knowledge of MV switchgear designing prototyping, assembly and testing
- Awareness of DFSS tools like FMEA, PDSC, RDVP, Monte Carlo Analysis etc
- Hands-on experience with Creo-Direct, Inventor, Model manager, Enovia, OR
- M.Tech Fresher with strong knowledge on fundamentals
- Hands on experience on CAD software with basic design experience
- Awareness of DFSS tools like FMEA, PDSC, RDVP, Monte Carlo Analysis etc.
