Job Responsibilities:

  • BE / B.Tech Mechanical Engineering
  • Around 3yrs of experience in Mechanical product design and development
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience CREO 2.0/4.0
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of Design of casting components (especially in aluminum alloys)
  • Knowledge in the manufacturing process of Sand casting, Gravity die casting and Pressure die casting
  • Design verification with Tolerance stack-up analysis (1D/3D)
  • Knowledge about axial, radial, and angular stack up analysis methods
  • Knowledge of GD&T standards (ISO/ASME) and principles
  • Analysis of GD&T and application of GD&T
  • CeTol tool knowledge will be an added advantage
  • ASME – GDTP certification will be an added advantage
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience in Design for Reliability, Design for manufacturability, and design for assembly
  • Experience in Plastic part design, Sheet metal designs, and Wiring harness design considered as an added advantage
  • Awareness about the new part development process
  • Internal design review using design standards and checklists
  • Participate in design reviews with the project team
  • Experience in Value engineering methodologies for product optimization
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability, positive attitude, good communication skills
  • Good coordination skills to work with Cross-functional teams
  • Business English and good communication Skills

Job description

Purpose of the Job

  • To lead design activities of new product development (WT gearbox). In this scope, on one side he will be a technical interface with customers and on another side with internal functions. He will be assigned required resources (designers) to carry out design activities and will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring them as per Global Development Process, He will represent PD in project core team meetings. The output shall adhere to applicable standards and specifications to deliver reliable product design.

Key Indicators

  • Wind turbine, gearbox, gears, bearings, shaft, materials, lubrication, seals, safety calculation, kiss soft, Creo, PLM, design review, DFMEA, risk and deviations, standards, communication, Global Product Development Process, Project planning

Principal Accountabilities

  • Set-up a work-break-down structure and define the required competencies, define required design resources
  • Design deliverables respecting product reliability, design quality, cost,
  • project timing, applicable standards, specification, and guidelines
  • Participate in the Project meetings and support the Project manager for design timeline, risk, and deviations, gate input
  • Manage assigned resources, organizing regular design team meetings.
  • Act as a technical interface with customer (external) and other functions internal to the organization
  • Use process tools (List of deliverables, Risk and deviation) for reporting to the organization
  • Initiate Design review with Design Quality as per Gate requirement
  • Review and approve technical content of his team deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports)
  • Prepare an action plan on risks and deviations

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech/M-Tech with 8-12 years of experience in design, preferably from an Industrial gearbox company
  • Shall have handled product development, design review, gate process
  • Experience in planning, scheduling design activities
  • Experience in handling a team
  • Design knowledge of gearbox at the system level and component level
  • Knowledge of calculation tools, CAD-Creo, PLM will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing technology is a must
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skill
  • Knowledge of MS-office tools
