Job description
- Within Volvo GTT Cab Development we are looking for the position Engineer – Seats and Controls,
- Within the Cab interior, we are responsible for the design and development of all components in the interior, such as Instrument panel, Door panel, Seats, and Control system.
- The Controls team has the system responsibility for Passive safety and engineering responsibility for all the components in the Controls system such as upper and lower controls, pedals, steering wheel and airbag, steering column/shaft. The Seat team has the responsibility of complete seat development for UD brand products in cooperation with the Development center.
- Due to a unique mix of competencies, several group members have global responsibilities in their respective areas and participate in company-wide module teams in order to align technical specifications, enhance quality and build value for all the truck brands.
- We are now looking for an Engineer to take responsibility for concept and detailed development in this area.
Tasks and responsibilities
- As an engineer, you will work in all engineering phases, from advanced engineering to concept generation, detailed development, and industrialization. Engineering documentation is done in Catia V5 and Kola. Other typical tasks include writing technical specifications, leading our supplier teams, defining product structure, and working closely with feature responsible, testing engineers, and product planning.
- You will work globally with the development of Cab Seats and Controls concepts, advanced engineering projects and implementations for all Truck Brands. Your role will strengthen the Seats and Controls team and contribute to Volvo GTT’s vision within this area.
- The role is cross-functional which means you will drive issues within the whole Volvo GTT organization and closely cooperate with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, testing, aftermarket, etc both locally and on other sites within Volvo GTT.
- You should be able to take full engineering responsibility and independently deliver the tasks within your engineering area.
Qualifications
- 3-6 years Mechanical Engineering experience; Min 2 years’ experience in Automotive or heavy truck industry in Cabin development.
- An understanding of design constraints of various manufacturing processes is a plus, especially regarding plastics, composites, sheet metal, and porous materials
- Experience in Material behavior and mechanics is a must
- Experience and understanding of legal demands
- Knowledge of testing and validation of components and systems is required

- Within CAB design department, Geometrical Assurance Engineering (GAE) as a part of Geometrical Architecture group, is responsible for ensuring cabs and the constituting components/systems are designed to the dimensional needs to assure the aesthetical, functional and mountability conditions. Your position as Geometrical Assurance Engineer, performing Geometrical Assurance Engineering activities with goal to ensure the geometrical quality on the build products throughout the complete life cycle of the product.

- Responsible for the design & development and complete delivery of the Lower Front system module. The work requires domain expertise in metal, plastic & composite components related to Truck lower front module such as Hood and Bumper systems and other structural and protection components. It is a key role in coordinating the operational work needed to ensure cross functionally anchored concepts and technical solutions meet defined product QDCF targets. The role covers several aspects of the product development process and the deliverables are largely driven by Gates, Releases and Design loops.

Qualification
- BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with 12-15 years of relevant commercial vehicle domain expertise.
- Working Knowledge in Volvo Product and Data Management systems such as Kola and Enovia is preferred.
- Sound Knowledge about Commercial Vehicle platforms & European markets will be preferred.
