Electromobility is the main development areas within Volvo Group and was created to be in
the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.
We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure
a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drive the electromobility
product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within
Volvo Group. Electromobility is a growing agile driven organization in place to shape the future!
The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified
powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). We are accountable for the lifecycle
management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, to product development and
maintenance.

The ESS section are now recruiting a CAD engineer
You will be part of an agile and approachable organization with skilled product teams consisting of

What will you do?
We are working in a cross-functional way from concept and design, to final verification and implementation in production. You will be responsible for the ESS battery/Engine/driveline components CAD design , meaning primarily requirement-based development. But it’s also a very close cooperation with Component owners, Function owners, System engineers and Test engineers within ESS. You will be involved in all the technical decisions towards projects and suppliers concerning the design aspects, making sure that deadlines are met with the right quality and at the right cost.

Who are you? Are we a perfect match?
We believe that to be successful in this position, you are a pragmatic team player that loves to design battery/engine components with the customer in focus. You have a broad knowledge and experience of design and developing HW systems in a vehicle/automotive environment and are used to express yourself within requirement specifications. You feel comfortable of owning and take responsibility of your components from Pre-study and concept phase, up to Implementation and into maintenance and you do so with a great attitude.
We also believe that you have:

  • Bachlor of Science in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in CAD design of sheetmetal brackets, castings , Tubes and Hoses in engine & driveline systems.
  • Excellent in CAD & PLM software (Creo, Windchill, PDM link)
  • Good knowledge in GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis
  • DCN handling & KOLA knowledge is plus
  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • At least 4 year of mechanical hardware development within automotive industry for an OEM or a supplier.

It is considered a merit if you have experience within one or several of the following:

  • KOLA and other Volvo Group Technology tools
  • Agile Principals and methods.
