The Special Vehicles Development group in Bangalore is dedicated to provide solutions to Multi Brand Trucks within Volvo Group and is responsible to support in development of low volume solutions and specific customized offers for Heavy Duty Truck ranges for both Volvo Trucks & Mack Trucks.
Special Vehicles Development is also a major contributor to innovation project for the Volvo group with development of demo-trucks and staggered introduction of new technologies (e-mobility, automation and connectivity).

GTT Bangalore is setting up a new SVD agile team to deliver quick solutions with value to the SVD projects. This team will have the x-functional competency with T-shaped engineers who can work in different technical areas of vehicle development.
This team will support all brands and ranges within Volvo Group and is looking for new employees with passion and energy to build a truly cross functional team with a mix of people from different areas; chassis, cab, electrical & wiring, software and also vehicle and geometrical architects. We have experienced colleagues from Sweden & US with whom we will be working together to develop Heavy Duty Trucks. Our way of working is lean and we continuously develop and implement innovative ways of working to secure high performance in time to market, quality and reduced development costs for all our products.
Role Description
You will be responsible for all the engineering activities within SVD Team, Bangalore.
For this position the main responsibilities are:
- Take part in all the design activities from concept to industrialization for Special Vehicles products and deliver technical solutions agreed with our customers
- Knowledge of development processes for all kinds of structural components and sheet metal designs (Chassis & CAB structures)
- Must have hands-on experience on designing of brackets, component installations and packaging
- Engineering documentation or Drawings and Specifications
- Good knowledge of PLM/PDM software’s
- Knowledge on CAD tools like Creo/Catia is mandatory
- Knowledge on Volvo tools and processes will be an advantage
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
For success in this role we expect you to have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field of study as well as work experience in the relevant field for a minimum of 3 years. You have specifically strong knowledge of design components related to the chassis, cab, electrical and wiring area. Previous experience from Volvo Trucks will be considered as a plus.
You are curious, creative and thrive to take the lead with courage and integrity and feel comfortable working autonomously. You have ability to build trust and to manage networking across the engineering-, manufacturing-, purchasing and sales and marketing organizations.
