Job description
- Design Centre, Chennai, Chennai CAD, Standardization & IM, CAD Tower
- You will be a part of the DC Chennai CAD blades department. The department consists of highly skilled designers and CAD Blade professionals located in Denmark, India, Uk, and Portugal.
Responsibilities
- You will be involved in developing innovative and cost-efficient concepts for new transport & lifting equipment for the next generations of wind turbines Develop new equipment to transport and install wind turbine blades
- Checking existing blade lifting and transport equipment for suitability with new requirements and developing retro-fit solutions.
- Deliver detail design & BoM with right quality and on time as per project timeline
- Responsible for creation of technical design documentation such as 3D CAD, 2D drawings, BoM
- Drive project deliverables in collaboration with global cross-functional teams
- Ensure document quality through review processes inline with our internal system and quality processes
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with relevant interface owners throughout the value chain record improvement potential and contribute to the planned incremental continuous improvement of our processes & templates
Qualifications
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or allied
- Minimum 4 – 6 years of experience in NPD ( New product development) and detailed design
- Experience in mechanical design and specification in compliant to the relevant international standards
- Minimum 2 – 4 years working experience as a mechanical engineer in the Wind Industry (Wind or equivalent)
Competencies
- Experience in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting, preferably using CREO/ PDMlink and project execution through ERP/ECM systems
- Knowledge of GPS and tolerances
- Knowledge of Wind turbines / Heavy lifting / Transportation / Material handling equipment
- Knowledge of ISO/EU/US design standard
- Value transparency, teamwork & improvement
- Good communication and social skills
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing and preferably insight into wind turbines, e.g. welding processes and material properties
- Knowledge of JIRA, PDMLink Windchill is added advantage
- Knowledge on FEA (Preferably ANSYS/pro-mechanics) is added advantage
