Describe the Department

Wind and Site evaluation is a critical step in the Wind Power Plant sales process for Vestas. This position has an important role in identifying and quantifying technical risks of wind power projects and generating and capturing value through innovative customized technical solutions.
This is your opportunity to work with a global specialist who will offer industry coordinating training and technology within a flexible working environment.
You will be responsible for the Wind & Site supporting the value engineering phase in the sales process. Your focus will be on the value-adding high-quality statistical analysis as well as project layout design, load assessments, and associated customer support. The main location is in Chennai, India.

Responsibilities
  • Perform wind and site statistical modeling and analyses, including perseverance of wind resource and site characteristics
  • Develop wind turbine site layouts and optimize turbine configurations based on conformance with standards, power production, and construction considerations
  • Verify wind turbine design life estimation via load calculations
  • Maintain sales and project processes involving technical and commercial responses to customers, consultants, and colleagues
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering is desired
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in engineering with a background in wind resource assessment- sales support
  • Fluent and clear in written and spoken English
  • Added advantage – Certification in different levels of foreign languages like German, Spanish, Danish, and Chinese
  • Experience with industry-specific software applications such as WAsP, windPRO highly desired

Job description

Engineering & Business Service Center -> COO Engineering services -> Technical Support & Production Quality

COO Engineering Services, having expertise in engineering data analysis, technical documentation, product/ process quality control, business process, tooling design, test systems, ERP solutions, and project management, would support Vesta’s global strategies through process optimization, production support, test validation, cost control, and E2E project management. We impose creative solutions and promote continuous improvement culture to make Vesta’s vision come true. This role is part of the Technical support and Production quality team.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and optimize NC system
  • Product NC handling and Cost of Poor quality recovery. (Incoming rejections and site rejections related to Supplier parts)
  • Continue to improve quality (Accountable for process quality indicators’ performance and analysis)
  • Responsible for a systematic approach to problem-solving by applying tools like 8D, DMAIC/Six Sigma, 5×Why, PFMEA, PDCA, etc., where reporting is a central part of the daily work
  • Responsible for performance analysis, identifying and implementing improvement idea by using lean manufacturing tools to improve the Process area performance together with the matrix team
  • Technical support for internal and external Non-Conformity quality handling
  • Participate in QIPs as a team member and guide actions for improvement
  • Contribute to improving product quality performance (CTQ)
  • Review and update PFMEA based on the NCs reoccurrence/ severity
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong technical education (Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical)
  • At least 4 years’ experience. (CONTROLS/ CONVERTORS/ ELECTRONICS domain knowledge)
  • Experience in a customer-facing position. (Customer/ production line quality or technical support)
  • Familiarity with wind turbines or rotating machinery, plant, processes, or systems would be an added advantage. (Ideally in the energy market, within the power generation or the oil & gas sectors)

Tooling Design is part of the COO Engineering services department. This department has expertise in Engineering data analysis, Technical documentation, Product/ Process Quality control, Business Process, Tooling design, Test systems, Enterprise Asset Management, ERP solutions, and Project management, would support Vesta’s global strategies through process optimization, production support, test validation, cost control, and E2E Project Management. The tooling design team is responsible for developing and maintaining concepts, processes, and tools for the Manufacturing & Production of wind turbine components/assembly. We impose creative solutions and encourage continuous improvement culture to make Vesta’s vision come true. This role is part of the COO Tooling & EAM team

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for understanding and documenting Design requirements, verification, and validation
  • Responsible for creation of technical design documentation such as 3D CAD, 2D drawings adherence to relevant legislation
  • Responsible for project execution through SAP/ERP/ECM systems
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied
  • 3-5 years of experience in Tool design and /or product engineering manufacturing is required
  • Experience in Mechanical design and specification is compliant with the relevant international standards
Competencies
  • Knowledge of design of mechanical components using both methodical and FE analysis and applicable standards
  • Skilled in the Creation of drawings and ensuring correctness of models using Creo & PDMLink
  • Understanding of change management
