Job description

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic:

Responsible for in-house designing and detailing for the execution of new projects, expansions/renovations, and de-bottlenecking projects. To develop/enhance competency in the in-house design of process equipment, and material handling equipment like belt conveyors, screw conveyors, etc. Pressure vessel design and stress analysis of piping using software.

Managerial:

• To plan and prepare schedules for the delivery of drawings to meet the project timelines.
• To guide a team of draftsmen in the preparation of detailed drawings of all kinds for execution.
• Coordinating and Assisting the projects team in the execution of projects, whenever required, also Project Management activities.
• Owning and taking care of Departmental improvement initiatives

Operational:

• Design of process equipment – Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Storage Tanks, Scrubbers, Agitator tanks and various other process equipment.
• Design of material handling equipments – Belt conveyor, Screw conveyor and other bulk handling conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Bins / Silos etc.
• Design of supports for process equipments – Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers,Silos/Bins, hoppers etc.
• Guide draftsmen to develop plot plan, equipment layout, pipe rack layout, piping layouts & GA etc.
• Guide draftsmen to prepare detailed piping 2D and Isometrics drawings with bill of materials.
• Guide draftsmen to prepare drawings for fabrication of process equipments,material handling equipments, drive base plates for rotating equipments like pumps,fans,etc.

• Guide draftsmen to prepare drawings for all kinds of steel structural layouts..
• Preparation of sketches for detailing.
• Ensuring adherence of relevant codes and standards and monitoring drafting of the drawings on AutoCAD and to ensure timely delivery of quality drawings to customer’s satisfaction.
• Checking of the drawings, incorporating customers requirements.
• Maintain all calculations/records.

Preferred Skills:

• Working knowledge of AutoCad software.
• Knowledge of AutoPIPE vessel,3D Modeling and CAESAR II Softwares.

• Computer skills in Microsoft Suite.

Qualifications and Education Requirements: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with min 60% marks

Minimum experience: A candidate should have 4 – 8 years experience as Mechanical Design Engineer in a reputed design office of a large Chemical / Petrochemical / Refinery complex.

This experience in design and detailing shall cover various types of process equipments, simple static and rotary equipments, material handling equipments, stress analysis of piping, preparation of GA and detailed drawings of plant, equipment, structural and piping layouts.

Proficiency in usage of AutoCAD and MS Office is essential.

Sound knowledge of all relevant national & international codes & standards (ASME,ANSI,API,ASTM,IS etc.) of practice is must. Exposure to project management activities and use of softwares – AutoPIPE vessel,3D Modeling and CAESAR II softwares would be preferred.
