Job description
Job Title: Engineer – Design
Location/s: Bangalore IND – Sarjapur Road
Essential Job Functions
- Member of a cross-functional product development team responsible for designing, analyzing and validating new tool designs and enhancements to current designs
- Work with applications engineering team and commercial team to implement customer requirements into new product designs
- Determine feasibility/risk assessments using both practical and analytical methods (rapid prototyping, design stack ups, design studies, DFMEA, testing plans, etc.)
- Lead the product engineering initiative through use of Pro-E/Creo and Solidworks in product design development
- Mechanical Gear design calculations, specification of materials, heat treatment and fabrication methods
- Conduct simulations as required using KissSoft/Romax
- Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
- Develop testing plans and specifications that align with product risk assessments and conduct all validation testing
- Lead development, procurement and fabrication of all test equipment and fixturing required to conduct validation testing
- Publish lab reports for all validation testing which clearly present data and conclusions
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for issues seen during the development process for new products and product revisions
- Work with the operations team and engineering technicians to design and develop tooling and fixture designs and processes necessary to manufacture new products
- Develop and design all process and performance specifications for product launches
- Active team member for brainstorming and SWOT analysis sessions
- Support transition of new parts from design to production phase including support of operations and quality as required
- Create and review engineering documentation and change requests
- Effectively communicate status of active projects through weekly status reports and assure timing metrics are met for all deliverables
- Attend manufacturing handoff meetings and quality meetings to assure adequate design engineering support is provided when applicable
- Assist with root cause analysis, troubleshooting and validation testing for products post launch to support the core engineering, quality and operations teams.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering to be determined by leadership.
- Experience of 4-6 years in design of complex Mechanical systems especially Gears
- Experience in the use of Pro-E/Creo and Solidworks design tools
- Experience in the use of KissSoft/Romax for design and performance simulations
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of inspection and measuring equipment techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Project management skills with emphasis on meeting deadlines.
