Job Description

Under direct supervision perform a variety of engineering, design and drafting tasks requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

Use engineering principles, product design and application knowledge to provide solutions to stakeholder enquiries for wet seal refurbishment.

Duties & Responsibilities

What you’ll do –

  • Review & processing of stakeholder Project Requests.
  • Follow standard application & design engineering techniques and procedures to select, apply, design and draft wet seal products to repair or replace seals.
  • Where necessary, liaise with Global Engineering Product Groups and other SMEs to provide ‘Right first time’ design solutions.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations as required to validate design or create new designs. Familiarity with web calcs an advantage.
  • Basic use of FEA tools like CSTEDY & similar tools for simple design analysis an advantage.
  • Design wet seal products using 2 & 3D CAD techniques (Solid Edge preferred).
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver projects on time maintaining quality.
  • Troubleshoot and provide recommendations during assembly or installation or failure analyses.
  • Support and work on departmental projects including, processes or procedure development, improvements and new capability addition.
  • Project on-time delivery and quality.
  • Provide optimum technical solutions
  • DAM meetings and improvement inputs.
  • Training and department project delivery
  • Interacts frequently with internal and external stakeholders concerning project scope, lead time, queries, and technical /contractual clarifications

The Individual

What you’ll definitely need –

  • Bachelors in Engineering (Preferably Mechanical / chemical / Industrial / Production) with a typical experience of 3 to 10 years.  (Grade will be based on candidate knowledge, experience etc.)
  • Must have good engineering knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
  • Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using preferably Solid edge.
  • Knowledge of mechanical seals is required including design and application.
  • Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with more experienced engineer to come with engineering solutions.
  • Must have aptitude for problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
  • Experience of reverse engineering an advantage in terms of drawing/design work but also hands on measurement techniques.
  • Experience working on pump and seal repair an advantage.
