The Role
Provide support to Shell’s OUs by drafting/detailing the drawings through tools such as Auto-Cad and PDMS/E3D.
The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.
The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment, and Asset Management with:
- Shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and a new way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programs like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.
- Providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results
- Helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them
- Sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach
The incumbent will be expected to play a key role in driving change to optimize the reporting systems and processes and providing the performance data and insights required to support the Goal Zero journey
Associate Engineer – Digital & Drw Mgmt will be part of the VP TAO organization
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas, and Upstream. TAO provides high-quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at a site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
Business Dimensions:
The role is expected to be the expert in Mechanical piping detail engineering, with basic knowledge in other disciplines of technical drawings and closely engage with OU in updations & suggest improvement solutions on enhancing the overall quality of work.
Also, provide support to other drafters while replicating best practices from stakeholders and partner organizations.
Principal Accountabilities of Associate Engineer
- Relevant drafting and detailing experience in onshore/offshore Oil and Gas industries in Mechanical piping engineering in FEED, Detail Engineering, and As-built process.
- Proficiency in drafting/detailing of technical drawings like piping general arrangement, piping isometrics, plot plans, layouts, equipment general arrangement, pipe supports, and other related drawings.
- Read & comprehend general drawings of the process & facilities like PEFS (Process Engineering Flow Scheme) / P&ID, PFD (Process flow diagram), and EFD (Engineering flow diagram).
- Understand and update the corrections & redline markups and the ability to revise the other related drawings referring to the input received.
- Understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project for improving quality and reducing rework.
- Hands-on experience in 3D modeling and handling 3D modeling software like Aveva PEMS/E3D tools will be a value-added scope.
- Hands-on experience in 3D model review tools using Navisworks freedom/ manager, and smart plant review.
- Experience in laser scan projects can be an added advantage.
- Ability to execute and maintain quality and on-time deliverables, drawing management, process supporting document archiving.

- The role primarily involves remote support to the Shell operating units/sites in the drawing management & updates.
Education/Experience required for Associate Engineer
- Mechanical / Piping Engineering Degree with 3-5 or diploma with 5 -7 years of work experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical Industry – operating assets and/or a varied range of greenfield/brownfield projects.
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, recommended practices, and knowledge level in Shell Dep will be added advantageous.
- Mechanical Piping detail engineering & selection of piping components, comprehending, creating & updating the drawings / 3D models of technical disciplinary drawings viz plot plan, piping GA & isometrics, P&ID/PEFS, PFD. respectively in design, drafting & engineering firms/ consultancy firms/ plant environments/industry past the professional degree/diploma.

Highly Preferred skills are:
- Strong knowledge of 2D & 3D tools such as Auto-cad, and PDMS/E3D.
- Acting as an interface with other disciplines to overcome design/drafting issues
