About the Role
This is an individual contributor role tailored for Mechanical Engineers with 2-4 years of experience. The position involves custom mechanical engineering for LV & MV switchgear orders, focusing on quality, timeliness, and innovative process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Mechanical Bill of Material (BoM) using standard designs based on electrical/customer inputs.
- Design custom assemblies when standard assemblies are unavailable.
- Ensure quality and on-time completion of orders and projects.
- Work on process improvement initiatives to optimize workflows.
- Provide virtual technical support for the shop floor in global locations.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, customers, and project managers to deliver design solutions.
- Take up stretched assignments and responsibilities as needed.
Required Competencies
- Mechanical Design Engineering knowledge, especially for switchgear products.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially sheet metal operations and processing.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and design using ProE/Creo (modules: Part, Sheetmetal, Assembly, and Drawing).
- Ability to work in a virtual environment (manufacturing plants are based in North America).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team player with the ability to work in multicultural settings.
Preferred Competencies
- Hands-on experience or close collaboration with manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in designing and manufacturing with sheet metal.
- Familiarity with low voltage switchboard/switchgear design, installation, and use.
- Ability to interpret front elevations, one-line, and schematic drawings.
- Experience in the mechanical design of low/medium voltage switchgear.
- Capability to train engineers on Creo software.

Qualifications & Experience
- BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 4-6 years of relevant experience.
