Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services, and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing, screening, loading, hauling, tunnelling, quarrying, breaking, and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and the Production Unit in Patancheru, we are now looking for a Trainee Engineer – Production Technology to join us.

Your scope:

To learn and carry out activities related to the Production Technology department.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:

Responsible for best EHS practices, identifying, reporting hazards, and working in line with Sandvik’s way.
Prove out of parts, set of CNC machines, their operation, and make the required documentation.
Being an integral part of a team in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
Responsible for making of Process drawings and fixture drawings.
Study and improve manufacturing processes and procedures aimed at lowering manufacturing costs.
Research, benchmark, introduce,e and maintain safety practices in all activities and supported areas.
Making CAD drawing and layout drawing support
Responsible for coordinating with plant engineering, manufacturing engineering & production for scheduling of new product development and project activities.
Responsible for sending RFQ, making technical evaluation, making comparative studies, and coming up with recommendations for new cutting tools and fixtures
To support and facilitate 5S and point kaizen activities for operations
Basic knowledge in industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, and knowledge in 5S, lean manufacturing.
Ability to adapt & implement modern technology quickly
Idea with a modern machine shop and automation
Working hands-on in CAD tools
Familiar with manufacturing operations and CNC machines.
Positive attitude & ready to take up challenges

Your profile:

A fresh graduate in mechanical or production engineering from a reputed engineering college. Strong knowledge on EHS culture is a distinct advantage and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Competencies that we find necessary are:

Knowledge of numerically controlled turning, milling, multi-tasking machines, and inspection equipment/methods.
Knowledge in CNC programs, controls, and CAM programs.
Knowledge in process planning/design and process drawings.
Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, and cutting tools.
Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
Basic inspection methods and knowledge of instruments and gauges.
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma methodology, and digitalization concepts (IoT).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good oral and written communication skills, positive attitude, and soft skills.
Proficiency in MS Office tools.
Knowledge of international management standards and documentation related to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
