Job Summary

  • Responsible for leading the design process for Off Road Vehicle (ORV) cooling, HVAC, and fueling from concept through validation, and into production. This Engineer will support new product development (NPD) by executing against the ORV product plan and provide advanced technical solutions to meet the consumer’s needs. This role will focus heavily on vehicle design and integration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares preliminary sketches, CAD models, and layouts.
  • Prepares reports using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Prepares complex design, drafting, and layout drawings using Creo.
  • Ensures designs are meeting the safety, quality, reliability, and cost goals.
  • Assess design for manufacturing (DFM) to ensure designs are manufacturable.
  • Assess design for assembly (DFA) to ensure designs can be assembled
  • Performs engineering calculations.
  • Performs clearance checks, tolerance stacks, and other engineering analysis.
  • Identify early potential failure modes for a product by using DFMEA.
  • Completes design tasks in the Polaris Release System (Windchill).
  • Ensures production drawings are accurate and properly dimensioned (using KPC’s and GD&T).
  • Participates in & helps prepare design reviews on assigned projects.
  • Works closely with the CAE team towards design optimization.
  • Creates and maintains system engineering standards, specifications, and lessons learned.
  • Closely works with Lead Engineer to develop the system requirements into proven functions with the right quality with in minimum time, and with cost-effective solutions.
  • Provides guidance & coordinate activities for design engineers.
  • Provides cooling, HVAC, and fueling system technical support to Project Engineers, Designers, Design Engineers, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Powertrain, Quality Assurance, and Service.
  • Analyzes manufacturing and field problems for the root cause, then recommend and implement solutions.
  • Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • B.E. / B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience related to cooling, HVAC, or Fueling systems.
  • Understanding of cooling system function and design required.
  • Experience with 3-D CAD modeling package required, Creo (Pro/Engineer) preferred.
  • Experience using PTC Windchill Product Lifecycle Management software required.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) package preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5
  • Proficient in performing tolerance stack-up evaluations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Quick learner with a high level of ambition and drive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
  • Self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Fast-paced office environment.
  • Flexible hours may be required to participate in meetings with the global team.
  • International Travel to the United States may be required (less than 10%).
