Job description

• Creation of the mechanical architecture is modular, Ensuring the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate modules in modular, easy-to-maintain units that meet the product specification
• Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods
• Ensuring that the proposed architecture would have the safety and reliability features build in.
• Ensuring that architecture meets the performance criteria
• Formulating the technical roadmap, relevant for his subsystem taking into account technologies, application trends. Conducts PRP studies and/or innovation studies. Leads the introduction of new technologies also contributing to Technology Roadmaps
• Controlling and verifying that the mechanics are built according to the architecture.
• Analyze project ideas regarding realization options; evaluate the impact on running projects
• Determines the Unit interfaces (HW/SW), in close consultation with relevant disciplines
• Delegates, coaches, and verify the implementation by Designers/Engineers.
• System (Mechanical) architecture definition and in the Product Requirement Specification; advising the System Architect regarding choices of what has to be achieved in hardware and what in software (multidisciplinary), and advising on make-or-buy decisions.
• Drive cluster level synergy on best practices for product quality
• Responsible to Lead team technically
• Is abreast of / participates in standards know-how
• Responsible for effort estimation and inputting for Program planning
• Acts in line with departmental and project processes.
• Analyze product(s) issues from the field (post-market) and take complete ownership in providing a relevant solution(s)
• Define subsystem architecture under considerations of platform constraints
• Working closely with all the other team members both R&D team members (Like Systems, Verification, Norm compliance, etc..) and cross-functional stakeholders (Like Service, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Clinical etc…) for the projects
• Working closely with local and global suppliers
• Ensuring Reliability and Serviceability requirements of the system/subsystem/components for a project
• Advising on realization, planning, and budgets
• Performs work in line with the processes that have been agreed in the department.
• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with country-specific regulations.

Qualifications

• Master/Bachelor in mechanical engineering with 12+ years of experience
• Expertise in design techniques, application domain, and engineering. Keeps it up-to-date and propagates it, both internal and external.
• Ability to technically lead a team with a Domain Expertise in Machine Design, Manufacturing Process, Materials selection, Value Engineering
• Analytical, creative, and intellectual thinker, with the ability to perform mechanical design calculations & verify designs
• Good Knowledge of Manufacturing processes like Sheet Metal & Fabrication / Plastic / Machining while designing.
• Excellent command on, skills like Reliability measures, DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), Risk Analysis, DFMEA, DFM, GD & T, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, etc.
• Lateral thinker with a bird’s eye view, capable of finding an appropriate solution to complex problems.
• Is capable to introduce new technologies and efficiency improvements on group level (change management)
• Knowledge of and experience in hardware/software interfaces, understanding of cross-functional operations
• Exposure to work on the global environment, ability to communicate on different levels, good listener, coach and guide project team, with good presentation skills
• Working knowledge of CAD & FEA Tools like ProE / SolidWorks / Windchill / Ansys Classic / Ansys Workbench will be added advantage
• Exposure to International Medical Quality and Regulatory Standards e.g. IEC, FDA, CFR, MDD, UL, CE, CSA, BIS, etc. will be added advantage
• Experience in the field of Medical Devices product design e.g. X-Ray Machines, Ultrasonic Machines, Mammography, etc. will be added advantage
