  • In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the design engineering of the new and existing connector and terminal products from concept to production

What You Will Do In Your Role?

  • Leads design efforts in developing new connectors, terminals and cables for high-speed data transmission used in autonomous vehicles and automotive infotainment systems. Follow all Product Development Phases required to bring concepts into production with supervision from the Engineering Supervisor and Manager. Prepare presentation material for design reviews and customer meetings.
  • Leads design activity in developing major new connectors, terminals, and cables for high-speed data transmission used in autonomous vehicles and automotive infotainment systems. Guides and directs the activities of the multifunctional team(s) according to the priorities set by Engineering management.
  • Evaluate customer requirements to develop technical assumptions and requirements that provide an outline for project scope, planning and quoting activities. Create Design FMEA, execute on risk-mitigating actions from the DFMEA, and update the DFMEA accordingly. Responsible for design/product validation plan and report. Supports cross-functional feasibility reviews of new products.
  • Prepares information such as design concepts at design reviews and at meetings with customers. Participates and provides value add feedback in customer’s Product Design Team meetings. Provides team and customers with regular status updates. Provides technical support to customers both internal and external. Responds to questions/requests in a timely manner. Problem-solving and troubleshooting in the reliability lab, over the phone, or at the customer location.
  • Confirms product design intent. Performs/Reviews stack studies and other analyses required from the DFMEA to reduce and eliminate failure modes from designs before tool release. Checks manufacturing drawings for completeness and accuracy. Performs engineering tests and submits products for screen and qualification testing in the reliability lab.
  • Coordinates new product development, debug and release. Follows all product development steps, supplies tooling groups with necessary drawings for quoting and tool build. Assists and supports manufacturing in the debug process. Responsible for follow-up, documentation, publishing and expediting all action items of a new product program.
  • Prepares and follows engineering change requests (ECR) per document control procedures. Supports other engineers in department by checking drawings and provides mark-up for corrections.
  • Produces suitable manufacturing drawings that follow the Molex Drawing Standard and employs accepted GD&T methodology.
  • Interfaces with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, lab, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing product information, engineering samples and technical advice. Also interfaces with suppliers and customers.
  • Supports current product with continuous improvement and supports resolution of customer issues.
  • Able to disposition products from measurement data.
  • Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.

Job description

  • Work closely with CSBU DSS global engineering teams/AQP/MIE and reliability lab Engineers at different design centers to coordinate open DVP tests and support towards timely completion of those DVP’s to ensure flawless launch of new products. Be a single point of contact for all DVP Queries and accountable for development of standardized processes and procedures for CSBU testing.Facilitates Lessons learned for DVP Test failures and support’s for design of test fixtures.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Act as Liaison between Molex Design center Engineering/AQP Team and Reliability labs to coordinate all DVP related activities needed for a new or Existing RPM.
  • Ensure timely completion of DVP test to drive customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with the PDE to determine parts needed for DVP testing, Order parts from the respective plants/design centers and submit for testing to DVPs. Closely monitor the progress of testing until completion.
  • Review every test failure for lessons learned to share with other labs and drive PDEs to increase our first pass testing approved metric. Make lessons learned reports and initiate knowledge sharing meetings when needed.
  • Drive to close out any open action items/8D linked to lessons learned.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the management to report on status of DVPs completed/open, Lessons learned and address/ escalate periodically critical issues that needs manager support.
  • Work with Reliability labs for standardized processes and procedures for CSBU testing. Challenge existing procedures and propose ideas for standardization/value creation.
  • Monitor closely reliability labs metrics for DVP/PV and customer qualification test failures and standardize the monthly metrics reporting
  • Upload latest DVR files to the respective project SharePoint sites and ECTR Work with Stature site lead to update DFMEA Libraries based on DVP lessons learned and test failures
  • Work with PDE to challenge the DVP to ensure it includes all recommended actions from DFMEA and mandatory tests mentioned in VOC
  • Determine testing fixture requirements and support the PDE/Reliability labs to design and develop test fixtures by working with India GES
  • MBM & Quality Systems: Understand & practice the KOCH MBM philosophy & guiding principles, International Standards Organization (ISO) by following stated policies and procedures.

REQUIRED

  • 4+ years’ experience in New product development and DVP Coordination for an Electronics connector manufacturing industry

PREFERRED

  • Candidates who worked as an Advance Quality planning Engineer or Product design Engineer or DVP Engineer in an Electronics/Automotive/Aeronautical/Medical industry and has knowledge on DVP Tests/Product and tooling design/Reliability
