Job description
- Translate clinical needs into product opportunities and meaningful product designs.
- Ability to work on complex mechanical designs – mechanism design, component design.
- Validates designs by building prototypes using internal resources /external vendors.
- Attend and observe surgery and demonstrate the ability to formulate the clinical needs.
- Effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering /Technology in Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, or BioMedical
- 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical product development
- Hands-on experience on concept development, prototyping, and bench testing
- Proven track record of successful designs on time and in budget
- Hands-on computer-aided design experience, preferably PTC, Creo
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design practices including mechanism synthesis
- Effective use of rapid prototyping & manufacturing methods
- Has the appropriate background and experience to develop products under medical design control laws
- Demonstrated high values of ethics and integrity
- Demonstrated effort to fosters a culture of inclusion and diversity
- Able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Additional desired capabilities and experience
- Master’s in engineering or master’s in mechanical, Production, Mechatronics or BioMedical
- Green Belt in Design for Six Sigma or Medtronic DRM
- Knowledge of FDA and ISO design control requirements – ISO 13485 & other relevant standards.
- Experience in Clinical Trial, Cadaveric testing, Tissue bench testing
- Financial modeling of NPV and ROI
- Experience in working with large, multi-site, global organizations
- Training in Concept Engineering, Biodesign, Design Thinking methodologies
- Experience in conduction voice of customer activities
- Experience in computational analysis using FEA
- Electro-mechanical medical devices experience.
- Any computer programming language skills
