Job description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
  • Ensure the CAD Design release as per project timeline Preparation of BOM.
  • Benchmarking of competitions vehicle for features, ergonomics & Weight optimization.
  • Design adherence to Performance, Quality Cost and weight and deliver on time.
  • Provide Design feasibility to Styling by preparing multiple part proposals for improving part quality and interface.
  • Preparation of DCS & Support PPT for Reviews Conduct DFMEA sessions.
  • Do the preliminary Tooling feasibility of parts with tool direction definition, parting line & Slider/ Lifter construction.
  • Data releases for Vendor on Board, CAE & to Suppliers for Feasibility.
  • Release of 3D models in Team center /PLM systems with related Quality checks.
  • Perform the DMU, Assembly and Service study on designs
  • Provide 3D CATIA models with GD &T Annotations
  • CAD Design proposals in consultation with internal, external (Supplier) experts.
  • Support to CFT teams for part development, Cost saving and quality initiatives.
  • Resolution of build-related issues along with proper analysis

Functional Competencies / Skills critical for the job

  • Experience in Trim Design at Automobile OEM or Tier 1 around 4Yrs. to 6 Yrs.
  • Experience in Interior Trims (Pillar trims, RQT) design and Development.
  • Understand global trends in Pillar trim in line with global competition for features.
  • Knowledge of plastic part Design & tooling for checking tooling feasibility with tool direction definition, parting line & Slider/ Lifter construction & Grain mapping.
  • Should have exposure to Interface checks, DMU, Manufacturing and Service requirements.
  • Knowledge of plastics parts Gap-Flush, BSR requirements.
  • Awareness of CAE, DFMEA, Vehicle DVP & Validation requirements
  • CATIA parametric Modeling.
  • Understand the GD & T and 3D annotation on CATIA model
  • Expert in Catia V5 and engineering data management systems.
  • Understanding of Perceived quality and thorough knowledge of design guidelines

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
  1. Should collaborate with different stakeholders like HVAC CoE, Power Train Integration CoE, PowerTrain CoE, and Vehicle development team for passenger car projects
  2. Should report to the management the updates on the project and follow the Climate control, Engine Design Process
  3. Should develop the new capabilities for BEV & new trends in CFD
  4. Should prepare the analysis reports and ensure the timely discussion with necessary stakeholders.
  5. Should meet the project timelines
  6. Should ensure the quality of analysis and results delivered on time.
  7. Should support preparation of KM documents and updating the process documents, design guidelines, and modeling guidelines.

  8. Ability to post-process results, make reports, and present results to the design team.
  9. Should be able to recommend design modifications to meet acceptance criteria based on analysis results, manufacturing and packaging constraints.
  10. Should have knowledge of different tests for Full Vehicle systems and test instrumentations.
  11. Should be able to correlate CFD results with physical test results.

  • Simulate and analyze the implication of engine component/system/layout changes on engine performance (WOT Torque, BSFC, transient performance)
  • Publish engine performance simulation reports and help set performance targets for torque/power.
  • Participate in engine dyno testing (as required) for collection of data necessary for model validation
  • Analyze engine test data and explain causes for deviations between predicted performance and tested performance.
  • Evaluate and implement new methods of engine performance simulation (1-D) as part of capability building
  • Engine predictive combustion modelling engine part throttle modelling and emissions predictions
  • Matlab simulink calculations based on need
Functional Requirements:
  • Sound in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer
