- The Hitachi ABB Power Grids Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 900 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi ABB Power Grid’s units in more than 25 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 60 countries.
Your responsibilities
- Defines jointly with project controls / project operations, sales and engineering teams all project plan documents, including scope and financial plan, schedule and risk management plan.
- Leads Project team, establishes the project execution approach e.g. (project strategy and plan) and overseas project handover, execution planning and monitoring and control of both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
- Establishes a meeting routine starting with the project kick off meeting, distributing all needed contractual expectations and risks to the different department, sets targets and expectations (SMART goals) creating a healthy and professional team spirit aimed for success and satisfied clients.
- Implements a risk and mitigation management system/meeting during the course of project life cycle, managing the risks and opportunities.
- Handles claims, Q-issues and in general ‘opportunities’ (up sales) in a transparent and coherent way that at all the time full cost over run can be made transparent separated issue by issue.
- Reports but not limited to HSE, schedule, Costs, Claims, NCRs status on a weekly basis.
- Cost to complete every two weeks.
- Review & analysis of contracts received from Sales. Involvement during tender stage regarding project risks.
- Develop project schedule and freeze with respective stakeholders (internal and external).
- Preparation of project specific risk and opportunities management plan.
- Preparation of project specific Master Document Register.
- Coordination with Engineering drawing approvals.
- Coordination with Eng. and SCM to place order to sub supplier for material procurement.
- Coordinate with remote feeder factories for production plan and follow up on production progress.
- Collection test report from suppliers.
- Coordination with production unit for material readiness and completion of FAT.
- Issuing Purchase Requisition for packaging company.
- Follow-up on Material shipment, material receipt at site and acknowledgment from sites for submission of Milestone billings (if any).

Your background
- Bachelors in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized university.
- Minimum 4-7 years of experience in project execution and order handling (preferably in any power system OEMs) with a min of 3 years in leading projects.
- Self-organized and independent way of working.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proactive attitude in voicing and tackling problems.
- Sound experience with ERP (preferably SAP) environment.
- Preference will be given to those who have completed PMP.
- Should possess strong leadership skills and ability to convince/lead stakeholders in the interest of the project.
- Ability to work under pressure to deliver the projects with time, cost and quality.
