Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks and engineering analysis typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execution of the Finite Element Analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and analysis tools/methods adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering analysis for all products
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • B. Tech. or M. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis of gas turbine components
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to apply Geometry, Finite Element and optimization methods for design evaluation

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiarization with modeling and finite element analysis tools like NX, ANSYS, Hypermesh
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Exposure to Aircraft engines or Gas turbine product knowledge

Job Description Summary

This is Lead Engineer role for Stress Analyses in Adv Design Team of Advanced Technology Organization at Bangalore Engineering Centre. Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with mentorship.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conceptual or theoretical activities relating to identification and development, monitoring the productivity and reliability of new, conceptual, and untested technologies. To include work being done related to advance manufacturing works (AMW).
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with mentorship. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with shown interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD/ MTech/ MS/ BTech in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant experience on Stress Analyses of aircraft engine/ turbomachinery components
  • In-depth understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals & application
  • Demonstrated experience on applying Geometry & Finite Element Optimization methods for design evaluation
  • Demonstrated expertise on use of commercial FE & allied Packages such as ANSYS, UG & HyperMesh
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
