Job Description Summary
GE Aviation Performance engineer in preliminary Design organization is responsible for cycle design & optimization of the next generation aircraft engine at a very early stage of the engine program. Responsibility includes building cycle models & perform design studies to meet propulsion system requirements ex. engine size, performance target, engine cost, and Aviation Design Practices and legacy experience

Roles and Responsibilities
- Development of Gas Turbine Performance cycle model for new architectures & technologies to perform preliminary cycle design and performance assessment.
- Represent design & off-design components’ performance characteristics by using maps.
- Design space analysis using multi-disciplinary tools (Engine performance, flow path layout, aero, weight & acoustic assessment) & optimize the engine within the constraints by using optimization tools.
- Cycle analysis and performance data package generation for the internal design team. Build Request for Information/Quote package to be delivered to external customers (Airframers).
- Validate system/component performance behavior by working with cross-functional teams and experts. Participate in Performance Audit for new engine design.
- Identify risk & opportunity with the new engine design, ideate and mitigate risk.
- Communicate results, findings, and observations in clear and concise documents (presentations, reports, memos, technical articles) to peers, CTHs, Partners, and Airframer in formal/informal reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- BE / BTech / ME / MTech / PhD. in Mechanical Engineering
- Programming Skills – FORTRAN/ C/ C++/Python
- 2-3 years of experience
- Gas Turbine & turbomachinery fundamentals
- Knowledge in thermodynamics & aero-dynamics
- Component design experience in the field of turbo-machinery.
Desired Characteristic:
- Experience in Gas Turbine Engine Performance
- Design and analysis work related to thermal power plants
- Exposure to performance codes like NPSS
- Problem-solving ability
- Ability to deliver on time and with quality
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
