Design and development of Appleton Group’s products for global markets that distribute, control, and monitor electrical power in hazardous and heavy industrial applications. Projects cover a mix of new product development and product improvement programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical controls and enclosures such as motor starters, panel boards, and contactors for industrial and hazardous locations; optimizing our designs to create better solutions for our customers
    • Support for the product development process including concept, product specifications, design, supplier specifications, product validation, and ECO
    • Provide strong Engineering support to project Lead from ECR to ECO
    • Identify and apply innovative technology focused on improving our product capabilities and creatively incorporate groundbreaking smart technologies into our next generation of products
    • Use our lab facilities’ testing capabilities to validate product designs against requirements..

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 to 7 years’ experience in engineering design projects
  • Previous experience working with sheet metal, molded/cast components for enclosures
  • Panelboard layouts considering wire bending spaces, electrical spacings
  • Prepare assembly design layouts with complete GD&T, analysis of fits and clearances.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping technologies
  • Validation Testing based on agency standards UL, CSA, IEC

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Solid understanding of industrial electrical products
  • Hands-on experience with electrical controls and power distribution
  • Proficient in computer-aided design
  • Hands-on in Creo (3D modeling, drafting, assembly, Sheet metal, Cabling)
  • Hands-on in AutoCAD (Drawing, Layers settings, Sketching, Dimensioning and Annotations)
  • Preparation of complete drawing packages including details, assemblies, diagrams, and BOM structures.
  • Working knowledge of PDM/PLM tools
  • Proficiency in use Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
