Your essential responsibilities include:
- This role will contribute to design electrical connectors and terminals for electric vehicle applications. Candidate shall have sound engineering fundamentals related to mechanical engineering product design with respect to manufacturing process knowledge for electrical / electronic components layout, manufacturing & assembly, wiring harness, stamping, tool / die design & strong PLM / CAD skills. Ideal candidate shall have experience with concept – analysis – selection – prototyping – testing and final design release of electrical connectors for EV applications.
- Derive requirements for the overall size, fastening, current rating, protection and mounting for electrical connectors and terminals
- Develop concepts meeting the requirements as clean sheet design and enhance from current design variants with in the product portfolio
- Compare competitor products through soft / hard benchmarking and improvise unique design concepts that is compact, lower in weight, faster heat dissipation and other differentiated technical attributes
- Develop concepts to comply with CPA/TPA, USCAR standards and applicable HVIL requirements.
- Perform basic calcuations of weight, load distribution, fastener loads, etc to support the design refinement of connectors and terminals
- Apply design principles for stamping, die-casting, machining of the electrical connectors and terminals. Apply DFM&A principles for ease of manufacturability
- Create drawings for concept evaluation and apply GD&T controls for part quality and acceptance of critical features. Link special characters to process capability
- Apply DFSS principles & tools (ex: B&P diagrams, Scorecard, DFMEA) to deliver a robust engineering design
- Release drawings to suppliers for prototypes and production through CO / CR in ENOVIA PLM system following the standard process routes
- Prepare design review documents and assist engineering leads & program managers for NPI execution.
- Hands on experience and knowledge of design and material selection for shielding, high performance seals and thermal insulation.
Qualifications
Requirement:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Industrial/ Production/ Mechatronics Engineering
- 3 ~ 4 years of Experience in Electrical/ Automotive Industry in Mechanical components design & development preferably electrical connectors domain
- Conversant with GD&T, DFSS tools, Pro/E, ENOVIA, Engineering Change Management process. Concept – Detailed Design – Prototype – Test cycle expereince is ideal
- Creative Engineering acumen, Collaborative working style, high drive and go-getter in a fact paced project environment
