Job description
Overview:
The Associate Engineer (Mechanical Testing) will evaluate test requirements, write test procedures and test reports, perform qualification testing, analyze/interpret test data, and actively participate in NPI (New Product Introduction), technology, and value engineering programs of Collins Aerospace Actuation Systems business unit. The associate engineer will provide technical assistance for a number of Actuation Systems product lines, including the Power Door Opening System (PDOS), Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems (TRAS), and Highlift Flap and Slat Actuation Systems.
Position: Associate Engineer (P1B) – Mechanical Testing
Primary Responsibilities:
- Generate test processes by comprehending the requirements.
- Plan for test setup based on the resources for test equipment that are now available, and plan for acquisition as necessary to finish the test setup.
- Provide specifications for the creation of test fixtures and work with cross-functional teams on development and procurement.
- Conduct qualification testing for mechanical and hydraulic components and record test results.
- Create a qualification test strategy, test methods, test results, and an analysis and similarity report after understanding the criteria for the qualification test.
- Determine and assess test facilities to suit testing needs and work with vendors.
- actively take part in teamwork to accomplish project goals
- Prior to and during the test activities, make sure the test lab is 5S.
Basic Qualifications:
- a mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree, or an equivalent degree.
- solid foundation in the principles of mechanical engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical product qualification testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience in hydraulic and electro-mechanical product certification testing for the aerospace industry
- knowledge of certification, qualification, and compliance requirements for aeronautical products.
- understanding of measuring tools, data gathering, and calibration of apparatus
- understanding of qualification test specifications including DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and ARP 1383
- knowledge of test rig design and test setups
