Caterpillar’s ICS in Chennai / Bengaluru is looking for a person to serve as ESI Lead in PSDD.
The successful candidate will act as an I-6 diesel engine/aftertreatment system integration lead, responsible for the development of complex engine/aftertreatment system recipes from concept to production for IPSD’s 9-liter through 18-liter machine and commercial product offerings. This position is responsible for working with diverse team of engineers in a global setting to define/trade off product requirements, virtually develop and down select concepts/recipes, define performance development requirements/constraints and utilize data analytics to maximize product optimization and robustness.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the development and optimization of engine / AT system performance requirements
- Simulate & develop complex engine / AT System recipes from concept and production
- Lead and support New Product and Technology Introduction programs across a diverse portfolio of products
- Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in a discipline for which you are beginning to build a reputation as an expert
- Perform complex analysis work, identifies, and solves problems
- Technical delivery
- Evaluate products and processes
- Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas
- Support Built-In-Quality (BIQ) efforts to improve development process efficiencies
- Keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies
- Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other business units
- Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers
- Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers’ needs
Required Qualifications:
- Education – Bachelor degree in an accredited Engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Automobile)
- Experience – 4 to 6 years’ specific experience in engineering complex engine / Aftertreatment system via development and/or simulation
- 1D/0D engine performance simulation knowledge
- Overall experience of 10+ years in engine development
- Excellent working knowledge of Thermodynamics and Fluid mechanics with a proven record of utilizing these skills to develop products within the engine industry.
- Ability to perform complex assignments
- Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers
Software & Tools: GT Power, AVL Cruise, Matlab, Simulink, Destiny, Python Basics
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Master degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum field (i.e. Mechanical, Automobile, Thermal)
- Experience of control system development
- Previous experience developing and managing complex project plans, starting at concept and ending at final engine product
- The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more components or systems
- Hands-on experience in engine test labs
- Working with global teams
