Position – Gearbox Design Engineer

Exp. – 8 to 10 years

Job description

• Conceives and provides practical product design applications using complex technical principles
• Creates concepts and direct the design and development of complex engineering projects
• Prepares concept, design, and development and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects
• Conducts technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products
• Receiving and taking direction from Longwall engineering teams for technical specifications and project expectations
• Supporting the Longwall Mining business objectives through the delivery of designs/drawings on time/cost
• Utilizing key Caterpillar product development processes (APQP, FMEA, etc.) inherent in New Product Introduction programs (NPI), Continuous Product Quality Improvement programs (CPI)
• Following and updating designs through build, test and validation processes
• Collaborating with operations, purchasing and the supply base to meet product and design cost targets
• Evaluates defines and resolves design and manufacturing problems
• Accountable for detailing and releasing prototype to production designs/drawings
• Ensuring designs/drawings meet ISO and all relevant standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Mechanical or Mining Engineering curriculum.
• High level of proficiency in Creo tools & Teamcenter.
• Experience in SAP systems.
• 8-10 years of relevant work experience in Gearbox assembly & components Design.
• Experience in the Gearbox system & its components analysis tools.
• Must have a good mechanical aptitude with the ability to develop product concepts.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Problem resolution/troubleshooting.
• Requires good communication skills.
• Keen on learning and enhancing technical skills for future divisional needs.
