Job description

  • As an Engineer for Advanced Powertrain Products, LPSD India team, you will be creating design guidance on alternative power sources working with internal cross-functional teams across the globe. You will be creating guidance on the execution of designs for energy storage devices like fuel cell sources, energy storage containers, battery devices, and other alternative power sources for energy storage and mobile drivetrains. The job role requires to read, interpret, summarize, and prepare guidance documentation or recommend procedures and practices, including compliance standards. This role directly impacts Caterpillar’s current and future powertrain products developed for the market.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Experience in advanced power train technology like fuel cell power sources, energy storage systems, hydrogen fuel cells, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc
  • Preparation of development guidance documents on alternate power sources like Fuel cells, hydrogen storage pressure vessels, battery, etc
  • Interpret and Summarise conformance and compliance standards for alternate power sources
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to analyze product requirements and determine test and development strategies
  • Experience in Electrical panel/system design and environmental testing such as SAE J2464, IEC 62619, IEC 62133
  • Experience in hardware development and testing for Electrical and electronic systems would be a benefit
  • Excellent analytical skills and have an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
  • Requires strong technical leadership skills who can communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup across the globe

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering,
  • The overall experience of 5 to 10 years in engine performance or electrical & electronic testing is preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in developing advanced powertrain system and functional validation testing

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Master’s degree with strong Electrical/Mechanical system background from any accredited Indian or Global Engineering schools
  • Good knowledge of standards and regulations for advance power train and electrical systems
  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical system background
  • Ability to perform complex assignments
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong project management skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment
  • Willingness to travel domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in a workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers
