Job description


As an Engineer for Advanced Powertrain Products, LPSD India team, you will be working on end-to-end simulation, modelling and scripting of hybrid power trains working with internal cross functional teams across the globe. You will be using modelling tools to develop and implement mathematical models of hybrid power systems and evaluate the performance, TCO, etc. Job role requires simulation of thermodynamic engine cycles and integration of hybrid power trains. This role directly impacts Caterpillar current and future powertrain products developed for market.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Simulation of combustion processes for diesel / gas engines regarding efficiency and emissions using 1D thermodynamic tools
Develop and implement mathematical models of hybrid powertrains in Matlab/Simulink
Experience in advanced power train technology like energy storage systems, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc would be a benefit
Excellent analytical skills and have an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
Requires strong technical skills who can communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup across the globe
Create and deliver technical reports in product reviews with a wider team

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automobile/Electrical Engineering
Overall experience of 2 to 10 years in engine development, simulation and combustion modelling
1+ years’ experience in advanced powertrain system modelling and integration like energy storage systems, hydrogen fuel cells, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Ph.D. / Master’s degree with strong engine system background from an accredited Indian or global engineering schools
Expertise with 1-D engine simulation or equivalent tool
Experience in system integration of hybrid power systems
Proficiency with engine performance development
Ability to perform complex assignments
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Self-starter with good technical leadership skills
Enjoys working in a fast paced, technically challenging environment
Willingness to travel domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires

Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers
