Job Description:

As an Associate Design Engineer within the Retail Electric Power Solutions (REPS) team of Caterpillar, you will be responsible for the design and development of diesel, and gas generator systems and sub-systems. You will be an integral part of the electromechanical design team which works on conceiving, designing, and development of control panels, breaker panels, exhaust lines, air intake & fuel systems. This role requires to perform job duties covering electrical and mechanical design. This position directly impacts Caterpillar’s current and future generator products, which have been developed for various markets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Design and development of air intake, exhaust, fuel systems, control panel, and circuit breaker panels for diesel and gas generator products
• Perform design calculations and structural analysis and electrical/mechanical components selection
• Use knowledge of various manufacturing processes to deliver the solution that meets DFA & DFM
• Prepare Design FMEA, define validation plan, and execute validation activities working with global cross-functional teams
• Prepare technical reports and conduct design reviews with the stakeholders
• Resolve technical issues during prototype, pilot, and production phases of the product development lifecycle
• Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other cross-functional teams in a concise and accurate manner
• Provide technical support to quality & purchasing during part development
• Work with business units, SMEs, Project leads, and electrical and mechanical engineers to deliver projects on time.

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical / Mechatronics / Automobile Engineering
• Communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferably PTC Creo

Desired Qualification:

• Experience with design and development of electromechanical components
• Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams and with suppliers
