you’ll be our: Bodyworks/Plastics Design and Tooling Strategy

you’ll be based at: IBC Knowledge Park, Bengaluru

What you’ll do at Ather:

  • Work with the styling team for class A surface review and finalisation of master sections per engineering requirements
  • Generate concepts for different mounting strategies, split lines for bodyworks parts, and assemblies
  • Conduct DFM, DFA, and risk assessment
  • Design, develop, and release responsibility of all plastic covers and cowls for scooter projects
  • Resolve the development issues of bodywork parts to meet all the agreed projects targets concerning product, timing, quality, and cost starting at the pre-development phase up to SOP
  • Ensure timely release of design as per project schedule, review the CAD models and drawings , verify packaging, prepare BOM for every drawing release
  • Prepare instructions for making 3D models, drawings; manage the timely/error free delivery from CAD service team, develop CTQ targets
  • Ensure design compliances such as homologation
  • Prepare the test plan, define the acceptance criteria, analyze and evaluate test report
  • Resolve issues for the failures reported during development of the parts
  • Work closely with the plant and quality teams

Here’s what we are looking for:

  • Expertise in plastic and BIW product design and manufacturing
  • Experience reviewing mold flow analysis and plastic CAE results, incorporating improvements in part designs accordingly
  • Knowledge of durability and safety requirements of automotive plastic parts
  • Knowledge of plastic material selection
  • High proficiency in Solidworks and CATIA would be preferred
  • DFMEA approach to product development and familiarity with GD&T and dimensional engineering

You bring to Ather:

  • B.E/M.E in Mechanical Engineering, OR a diploma in tool design from a reputed institute (CIPET, GT&TC, NTTF, CITD, etc.)
