Air Products is Hiring | Process Proposal Manager | BE/ BTech in Mechanical or Chemical |
Position – Process Proposal Manager
Air Products
Location – Pune, Maharashtra
Exp. – 20 to 30 years
Job description
Bid Phase
- Ensure Proposal Management completes the PDE data transfer form so that all data necessary to simulate performance is complete thereby avoiding rework and delays.
- Work with the Proposals Team to get the best process solution so that AP wins the business. This is typically achieved by maximizing product content so that cost is reduced whilst still maintaining competitive power.
- Use standard ASU Product-line Aspen decks or other approved tools to simulate plant performance to meet customer demand so that accurate cost and utility estimates can be completed. Rate product-line equipment such as columns and heat exchangers using associated PDM tools in support of the simulation. Rate other product based scope, such as SVD systems, using approved ASU product-line tools.
- Create hand marked up PFD and P&ID based on product generics to enable other functions to provide accurate cost estimates (capital equipment and manhours).
- Complete all bid phase Process documentation (e.g. Process Proposal summary, Technical risk statement, PPU summary, functional execution strategy) to provide consistent and timely data to PDE and the business area.
- Add documentation to OPENTEXT in a timely manner so that the work can be checked and approved by the ASU Product-line team.
- For SOE projects complete spec reviews and provide comments in the format requested by PDE so that the company can maximize compliance whilst fully understanding where a change to product-line designs would incur significant costs.
- For class II bids provide man-hour estimates for product-line based scope areas to ensure a competitive overall cost estimate.
Project Phase
- Production of deliverables as part of the Process Technology Package (PTP). These deliverables include items such as PFD to AFD revision (whole plant scope), technical risk statement, major machine specifications, heat and mass balance, product transmittals, P&ID to ORC revision (whole plant scope). The PTP must ensure that the Project meets performance objectives and allow the India execution team to proceed with the detailed design without hindrance or recycle.
- Calculations and deliverables must be produced in a timely and cost-effective manner so that the project schedule and cost targets can be met. The job holder must ensure they are adequately reviewed, stored, and communicated to relevant engineers in other disciplines. They must be of high quality, using PDM tools and/or approved ASU product-line tools to ensure consistency and ease of checking by the ASU Product-line. All changes must be incorporated and rechecked with minimal rework.
- For PFD and P&ID’s the job holder will lead the review meetings ensuring the ASU product-line and other key functions are properly represented so that there is no further cost optimization during the rest of the project. Minutes of the meeting must be taken, recording key decisions to prevent later rework.
- Support the process design team during HAZOP by following up on actions as determined by the lead process engineer on the project.
- Liaise with and support other engineering disciplines as necessary during the detailed design phase. This is to ensure that the production philosophy is followed and to ensure maximum re-use of product-based deliverables to maintain the project cost position, e.g. product relief device specifications.
Commissioning Phase
- Support to commissioning, start up and performance testing of projects, either remotely or at site so that performance objectives are met. This may necessitate periods of approximately2 weeks away from the home office.
Product Development and Maintenance
- Contribute as part of the process engineering team on a product development project. This will typically involve producing control and relief valve specifications, line sizing, equipment duty specifications and detailed design of proprietary equipment, such as distillation columns and heat exchangers. Designs will ensure a cost competitive position so that AP can win new business.
- Maintain existing product lines to ensure that deliverables are kept up to date, based things such as project feedback, PDM updates, product owner requests, safety incidents etc. This ensures the product safety and cost position is improved or maintained.
Qualifications
- 20-30 years of experience with a degree in BE Mechanical or Chemical.
