Position: Engineer

Division: Weir Minerals
Location: Bangalore, Hybrid

Purpose of Role:

Support the Business Units across Weir Minerals by performing mechanical engineering tasks related to product orders, system engineering, and manufacturing support. This includes creating and validating design concepts, performing engineering calculations, producing CAD models, and preparing detailed engineering reports.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Commitment:
   • Adhere to Weir’s zero-harm principles and contribute to developing a world-class safety culture.
2. Design and Engineering:
   • Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for Weir products and systems.
   • Perform engineering calculations and simulations for design validation.
   • Select and decide on mechanical components such as sheaves, bushings, belts, gearboxes, and couplings based on provided inputs.
   • Ensure alignment of deliverables with design requirements, standards, and best practices.
3. Project Execution:
   • Manage projects to meet quality and schedule requirements.
   • Report, document, and communicate technical details with the project team and customers.
   • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge:

• Education:
  • B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with 2–3 years of experience in mechanical engineering and system design.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong mechanical design engineering knowledge.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling.
  • Proficiency in system engineering and integration of mechanical equipment like pumps, valves, and motors.
  • Knowledge of mechanical drives, bearings, exciters, and structural elements.
  • Basic understanding of metals and materials.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, drawing principles, and 3D/2D modeling tools (preferably UGNX).
  • Experience with PLM systems like Teamcenter or Windchill and SAP.
