Position Description

We are looking for an associate ergonomics engineer within Volvo global truck technology, who has a better understanding of occupant packaging, the safety of road users (Direct visibility), mirrors (indirect visibility), cab interiors (doors, dashboard, A-pillars), cab insteps and grab handles, steering system, seats, pedals ABC, positioning of switches and controls on the dashboard with ergonomics thinking.

The ergonomics team in GTT is the sole responsible for human occupant packaging and setting up the targets for a vehicle’s all-around visibility. During the vehicle design process, driver accommodation is the fundamental assessment we perform to set the targets and inputs to seat, steering, pedals, and controls other components, when it is subject to geometric constraints such as floor height, roof height, footwell dimensions, instep height, grab handle position, location of interior and exterior lights, etc.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain methods and processes for working with ergonomics.
  • Participate in projects and contribute with ergonomics requirements, and proposals and enhance competence.
  • Perform ergonomics analyses, using Delmia V5, CAVA, Ramsis, Catia V5, and Autodesk Vred.
  • Create and maintain networks within Volvo Group to share ergonomics knowledge and methods
  • Be accessible for dialogue about ergonomics and HMI.

Required skills, experience, and competencies

  • Relevant 2-3yrs of experience within the field of design engineering and ergonomics
  • Structured and methodical way of work
  • Experience in CATIA V5-modelling and Delmia V5 Human analyses, Ramsis for occupant packaging studies.
  • Experience in CAVA to perform indirect and direct visibility evaluations.
  • Deep understanding of ECE regulations and SAE recommended practices.
  • Ability to present requirements and analyses in a lucid way
  • Communication skills, orally and written, and good English knowledge
  • Knowledge of the automotive development Process.
