Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Tower Module > Tower Internals
Tower Internals is a Sub Module of the Tower Module within the Aerodynamic & Mechanical area in Vestas Power Solutions (Vestas R&D). Vestas Power Solution is a business unit where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, maintained and tested. Vestas Power Solutions operates on a global scale with more than 1,300 employees.
Power Solutions, Tower module is the technology department responsible for the design and innovation of Vestas Towers. The Tower organization is 100+ solid responsible for the design, development, industrialization and lifecycle support of tower products.
We are a team of diverse people with different technical competencies, educational backgrounds and personal traits. We are very open-minded and encourage a go-do-approach.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for providing the most reliable and efficient designs for Tower Internals components
- Accountable for analytical analysis of the components besides the numerical simulations for structural strength evaluations
- Identify & implement new technology projects in design of Tower Internals for wind turbines
- Ensure technical policy making to secure progress in the projects and supervise technical reviews
- Prioritize the technical team’s tasks based on the calculated impact to project targets
- Identify and mitigate technical risks within the project scope
- Supervise and align project issues with stakeholders
- Deliver and assist in developing/optimize designs and design methodologies
- Deliver the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project
- Training FEA members
Qualifications
- Bachelor / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with solid proven experience of working in relevant similar field e.g. with experience of diligently loaded structures
- Practical hands on experience in design of structures and validation at full scale / sub-structural level
- Experience with ANSYS / APDL is essential as well as understanding of programming, e.g. Python or MATLAB is desirable
- Experience with design of towers for wind turbines or other mast/chimney structures
- Experience in Mechanical design and specification in compliance with relevant international standards
- Experience in a multi-cultural environment with an international organization
Competencies
- In-depth knowledge in Structural Mechanics of diligently loaded structures is essential
- Broad Knowledge in Engineering Basics
- Systematic and problem solving-oriented
- Ability to plan, scope and organize work package execution
- Team member with solid collaboration focus and ability to motivate colleagues within project team encouraging a collaborative environment
- Good communication skills to report effectively on the project status at all levels of an organization
- Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships with the value-stream
- Self-motivated and target focused – Innovative and enthusiastic with good attention to detail and willingness to take ownership to go the extra mile
