Job Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer – Design, you will be responsible for developing and designing enclosures, panels, cable trays, mounting of equipment, busbars, and other electro-mechanical components. This includes creating detailed CAD models, preparing fabrication drawings, and ensuring adherence to international and company standards.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success, provide technical support to suppliers and subcontractors, and contribute to the creation of documentation such as BOMs, installation guides, and marketing materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Documentation:
- Develop CAD models and project drawings for sheet metal parts, assemblies, and installations using Autodesk Inventor.
- Create detailed documentation, including BOMs, installation instructions, and fabrication drawings.
- Ensure compliance with international, national, and company standards.
- Verify and approve subcontractor documentation.
- Project Collaboration:
- Participate in project team and on-site coordination meetings.
- Support suppliers and subcontractors during bidding, production, and assembly phases.
- Assist site managers and quality control teams with technical solutions and issue resolution.
- Technical Approvals:
- Provide technical approvals for supplier offers and workshop documentation.
- Proactively issue RFIs (Request for Information) for project clarifications.
- Support & Coordination:
- Work with the site deployment engineering team during assembly and installation.
- Collaborate with commissioning engineers to develop and validate testing documentation.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Develop skills and knowledge through internal and external training.
- Contribute to the team by offering creative and practical solutions to project challenges.
Key Authorities
- Review and approve mechanical design documentation with support from the Lead Engineer.
- Approve or reject supplier offers and suggested changes from subcontractors.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of experience.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and familiarity with PLM software is preferred.
- Strong command of MS Office tools.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, creativity, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Experience:
- Hands-on experience with CAD modeling, sheet metal design, and fabrication.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering standards and best practices.
