Job Title: Project Engineer

Main purpose of the role:
Project Engineer is responsible for the ‘hands on’ implementation of innovations & technical improvements and to support the Projects Assistant Manager in selected projects. Project Engineer is responsible for the successful, timely and safe implementation of Capital Projects, under the guidance of the Projects Assistant Manager.
Project Engineer is responsible for providing the needed support to the Maintenance Team in selected maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- To support the Projects Assistant Manager in the implementation of Capital Projects by giving technical support.
- To be responsible for timely implementation of technical projects, including costs and resource management.
- Identification of Capital Expenditure requirements on a yearly basis and update throughout the year.
- Raising of Capital Expenditure Proposals for the projects detailing commercial case, equipment costs, payback, DCF yield and write – off.
- To be responsible for the implementation of small improvement projects initiated by Technical Manager, by SMU Managers, by other or as a result of an improvement identified by self.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Production, R&D, and Finance teams during the entire project lifetime to understand the deliverables and constraints within the project.
- Conduct site surveys including the measurement and laying out of undocumented areas of plant and equipment.
- Write and update all equipment and installation specifications and get agreement with the suppliers and contractors prior to order placement.
- Responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of project management from design (PHA, HAZOPS), equipment selection, project implementation (site safety), Commissioning and final project handover.
- Ensure that the Capital Projects are implemented in a safe manner by completing Permits to Work on site and ensuring that all Contractors Rules and Regulations are adhered to.
- Coach and/or train technicians and concerned operators to improve basis skills and to ensure the smooth implementation of new processes and equipment.
- Responsible for the minimization of environmental waste and safe disposal of any by-products of packaging, technical works carried out under his authorization.
- To be the center of excellence for the relevant discipline (mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation, civil) to support production and help them out when they experience difficulties that their skills cannot overcome.
- To be competent with AutoCAD and have skills to be able to produce / modify P & ID’s, layouts, schematics and detailed drawings.
- Responsible for good housekeeping of the areas where their works are being implemented.
- Complete all documentation of project management, design, communication, with supplies, commissioning certificates, handover, etc. Ensure that this documentation is stored within the library.
- In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager specify the spares and the minimum and maximum levels for the new projects under their responsibility.
- Best Proven Practice implementation and awareness dissemination from Global Teams.
- Ensure the quality of finished products being produced must be in good quality in compliance with specification requirements in terms of physical, chemical, microbiological quality and aesthetics of the product.
- Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of their own work area in order to prevent contaminations and hygiene, Quality incidents.

Key Skills & Experience:
- Holder of an Engineering Degree from an accredited University.
- At least 3 of years supervisory experience within a major factory environment.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Arabic an advantage.
- Capable of reading, constructing and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Good numerical skills.

- Computer literate.
- Drawing using AutoCAD.
