Job Summary:
We are looking for a Motorcycle Fit and Finish Component Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves combining creativity, technical expertise, and teamwork to design components that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conceptualization and Design:
- Develop CAD models from A-surface to final product based on styling and engineering project needs.
2. CAD Modelling:
- Create and engineer interior/exterior components that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
- Use CAD software (preferably Creo) for high-quality 3D models and technical drawings.
- Apply DFMEA, DFS, DFM, DFA, and GD&T principles.
3. Material Selection:
- Evaluate and select suitable plastic materials for durability, mechanical properties, and cost.
- Stay updated on the latest material technologies through collaboration with suppliers.
4. Design Analysis:
- Conduct feasibility studies factoring in manufacturing, material, and cost constraints.
- Perform basic simulations for performance and safety validation of fit-and-finish parts.
5. Prototyping and Testing:
- Work with prototyping teams to develop physical prototypes for validation.
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping methods is required.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
- Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate with tooling and manufacturing teams for a seamless production transition.
7. Technical Documentation:
- Maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and analysis reports.
- Keep updated on industry trends and technologies in component design.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- Entry to mid-level experience in motorcycle/automotive component design.
- Proficiency in CAD software like Creo.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design principles.
Key Skills:
- Creo (Basic to Intermediate level proficiency).
- Knowledge in GD&T, DFMEA, DFS, DFM, DFA, and Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis.
- Strong technical calculation and simulation understanding.
- Familiarity with the vehicle build lifecycle, including testing requirements and failure analysis.
