Job Description:

Motorcycle Fit and Finish Component Design Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our engineering team as a Motorcycle Fit and Finish Component Design Engineer. This role is an entry to mid-level position, blending creativity, technical knowledge, and teamwork to design components that enhance the aesthetics and functionality of motorcycles.

Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualization and Design:

• Transform A-surface designs into final CAD models, aligning with styling, engineering, and project requirements.

2. CAD Modelling:

• Create and engineer exterior and interior motorcycle components, focusing on aesthetic appeal and functionality.
• Utilize CAD software (preferably Creo) to produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings for fit and finish components.
• Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, regulations, and manufacturing constraints.
• Apply knowledge of DFMEA, DFS, DFM, DFA, and GD&T principles in design processes.

3. Material Selection:

• Select suitable plastic materials based on mechanical properties, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with material suppliers to stay informed about new developments and technologies.

4. Design Analysis:

• Conduct feasibility studies while considering manufacturing processes, materials, and cost implications.
• Perform basic-level simulations to validate the performance and safety of fit and finish parts.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.

5. Prototyping and Testing:

• Work with prototyping teams to develop physical prototypes for design validation.
• Leverage knowledge of various rapid prototyping methods for component testing.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share design progress, address feedback, and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Work closely with tooling and manufacturing teams to ensure a seamless transition from design to production.

7. Technical Documentation:

• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and analysis reports.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in motorcycle component design.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Entry to mid-level experience in a motorcycle or automotive component design.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Creo).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design principles.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DFS, DFM, DFA, and GD&T.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Additional:
  • Passion for motorcycles and a strong understanding of the motorcycle industry.
