Creative Mechanical Engineer to work on all product lifecycle development stages from Research to Manufacturing
A Day in the Life:
- Work with the Global R&D design team to develop conceptual design, detailed design, and drawings in Solid Works using the best design practices and design standards.
- Develop detailed 2D drawings, adhering to ASME Y14 drawing standards and applying GD&T & Design for Manufacturability principles.
- Collaborate with industrial designers to bridge the gap from concept to product by crafting CAD from sketches or translating surfacing models into SolidWorks.
- Solid Model Design: Develop SolidWorks models that achieve design requirements using the best design practices and industry design standards.
- Build and maintain detailed 2D and 3D models, adhering to ASME Y14 drawing standards and applying GD&T principles.
- Ensure first pass yield to meet timelines and schedules.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand product requirements and translate them into manufacturable designs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new design processes and standards.
- Participate in organizational change processes (ECO/ECR/ECN).
Candidate Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 0 – 5 yrs proven experience in product design and development using SolidWorks.
- SolidWorks Certification is helpful!
- Experience in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks, including the ability to build manufacturing drawings and documentation with practical knowledge of general drafting practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Knowledge of Sheet metal and other manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes like Casting, Welding, Forging and relevant standards like ASME, AWS, and DIN.
- Proven understanding of ASME Y14 drawing standards and GD&T principles.
- Ability to generate fabrication drawings independently. Experience with PLM and PDM systems.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and people skills.
