Position Summary:

Incumbent provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques are required. Incumbent will be responsible for carrying out avionics/electrical system installation and troubleshooting duties on experimental aircraft. Incumbent will be required to perform these duties in support of new product and sustaining aircraft designs. These duties will include coordination with other Engineering and technical groups to help develop, implement, monitor and status assignments. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

Principal Responsibilities:

• v Plan and perform the work involved in the installation, modification, and troubleshooting of all prototype avionics/electrical systems in all Textron Aviation aircraft models.
• v Mechanical installation design of avionics and electrical systems including cockpit displays and controls, remote line replacement units, antennas, sensors, wire bundles and secondary support structure.
• v Coordination with other engineering disciplines, marketing, production support, and flight test to coordinate design function and resolve problems.
• Incumbent will be working with all aspects of experimental aircraft design and will be required to frequently interact with engineering personnel

Technical Competencies:

• v Candidate should be familiar with FAR 23/25.
• v Experience with CATIA V5/V6 and VPM is preferred.
• v Design knowledge of Electrical Bonding Criteria, Thermal cooling requirements for electronic equipment, EMI shielding, and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) installation criteria is considered a plus.
• v Maintenance concepts for short and long term accessibility and reliability.
• v Hands-on experience with assembly or installation of components (ideally on aircraft but also helpful on automobiles etc.)
• v Familiarization with design and fabrication of sheet metal parts (preferably aluminum).
• v Ability to read and understand wire schematics and to route Harness.
• v Familiarization with finishes for different material types for corrosion protection.
• v Familiarization with sealants and prevention of moisture/corrosion.
