POSITION SUMMARY

Incumbent will be responsible for developing solutions to system safety assessment tasks of varying scope & complexity. Ability to use and apply system safety technical principles, theories, and concepts is expected. Supervision required is expected to be minimal with the incumbent expected to carry out routine tasks independently.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Authoring System Safety Reports including Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments (SFHA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA), and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA).
  • Authoring Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), and final System Safety Assessments (SSA). This includes supporting FMEA, fault tree analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, etc.
  • Developing process-based training, tools, and other opportunities for process automation.
  • Assisting systems engineers in developing requirements for design and installation of equipment and systems. Assist systems design, and engineering teams in ensuring all aspects of development assurance are addressed including reviewing requirements documents, definition documents, and other supporting deliverables.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in system safety assessment in aviation or any other field
  • Good knowledge of system safety processes such as functional hazard assessment, preliminary and final system safety assessment, and common cause analysis (CCA)
  • Knowledge or experience in conducting fault tree assessments and doing qualitative assessments for functional failure conditions
  • Previous experience or understanding of aircraft mechanical and/or electrical systems design is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the safety assessment processes outlined in AC 23.1309-1E SAE ARP 4761/4754A and the current and draft versions of AC 25.1309 is preferable.
  • Experience with fault tree modeling tools such as Fault Tree, Relex, and CAFTA is preferable.
  • Previous experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems design is beneficial.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software applications and working environments is preferable.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be able to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas with peers, management, and certification authorities

Qualifications

BE/BTECH or ME/MTECH in Mechanical/Aero/Electrical/Electronics or related domains with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
