Job description
The Fixture and Gauge Design Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and reliability of our manufacturing processes by designing and implementing fixtures, gauges, and related tools. This role involves collaborating closely with process/product engineers, participating in feasibility reviews, and continuously improving existing designs to enhance productivity and quality.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the product requirement with the process( Inspection/Machine shop/ Fettling etc.,)/Customer specific/Machine shop & Quality related features & inspection/JIT/Process Improvements & Designing fixtures and gauges as per requirement for use
- Participating in feasibility review meetings of Design/Fixtures and gauges
- Validating the design with concerned process/product engineers updating necessary corrections and finalizing the design.
- Releasing assembly and part drawing of fixtures & gauges for manufacturing with BOM
- Identifying and problem-solving & design fixtures
- Continuous Improvement in existing fixture and gauge design to improve productivity and quality
- Reviewing the engineering/design changes, and resolving quality-related problems of the design.
- Verifying drawings & BOM in terms of assembly requirement of product
- Provide RFQ support for the product team in preparing proposals with reference to F&G/Tools planning & Cost
- Training operators in handling of fixtures and gauges
- Updating SharePoint with all necessary documents in terms of fixtures and gauges
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in fixture and gauge design within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing fixtures and gauges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve design-related issues.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection techniques, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in design and documentation.
- Continuous improvement mindset to enhance fixture and gauge designs.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
