Mission / Purpose of the Position:

The role focuses on the independent design of pistons with an emphasis on mechanical strength, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency.

Main Tasks:

• Collaboration: Work closely with Application Engineers, Analysis, and Production teams (both national and international) to consult on piston design.
• Development: Design new piston solutions and optimize existing ones.
• Drafting: Create detailed assembly part drawings, including retaining rings, piston pins, ring carriers, and more.
• Design of Test Equipment: Develop piston test equipment such as temperature-measuring pistons, eddy current probes, and models for oil jet measurement.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

• Compliance: Adhere to internal standards and DIN/ISO norms, along with customer-specific requirements like GD&T tolerances and data quality.
• Data Transfer: Execute customer data transfers based on requirements.
• Tolerance Assessments: Conduct tolerance evaluations for designs.
• Metrology & Digital Data: Generate digital data for metrology and create skirt profile drawings.
• Documentation: Manage product documentation, including CAD data entry into Windchill and project documentation in RES.

Customer Contact:

• Internal: Interact with sample lines, toolmaking, test benches, purchasing, and production teams globally.
• External: Maintain contact with suppliers and customers to ensure CAD data quality and standards are met.

Monitoring & Cooperation:

• Safety Compliance: Ensure safety-related guidelines and standards are followed.
• Drawing Control: Oversee the mutual review of product and die drawings.
• Product Release: Supervise the release of piston drawings and provide feedback on the IMDS system.
• Collaboration: Serve as the interface between quality departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge & Training:
  • Proficient in GD&T tolerances.
  • Expertise in CAD systems (Creo, Catia V5 and V6, or Siemens NX).
  • Knowledge of ADC, SAP, and advanced power cylinder systems.
  • Familiarity with piston technology, tool design, and toolmaking.
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
• IT Skills: Experience with Lotus Notes, MS Office, and Windows.

Work Equipment:

• Knowledge of Health and Safety Directive 98/37/EC, workplace ordinances, and environmental standards.
